"Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" is a song by American dubstep producer Skrillex. It was released on October 25, 2010 as the lead single from his second EP of the same name.
It is prominently a dubstep song that uses elements of electro house, progressive house and glitch. It also uses a vocal sample of an exclamation from Rachael Nedrow (also known as "speedstackinggirl") shouting "Yes, oh my Gawsh!" which has been slightly trimmed topronounce "Yes, oh my god!" The song has since become his most commercially successful single to date, peaking within the charts of the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Norway, New Zealand and Sweden. On December 9, 2011, the song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with sales exceeding 500,000 units. It was also certified Gold within Canada, with sales exceeding 40,000 units. On February 12, the song won Best Dance Recording at the 54th Grammy Awards. The audio version has been listened to over 90 million times on YouTube making it the most listened to dubstep song ever on the site.
